Week 4
OK! where to start? Phili! where I live, ghetto! like crazy! I MAY die. in fact, I will. the Branch has like 30 people, so yeah, it covers a HUGE area, one of the biggest in the Mission. I think the biggest, it's a monster! so there are NO MORMONS HERE! well, active ones. let's just start with day one.
LONG DAY! we didn't do a lot. we went and saw a guy named Ron, who whould SO get baptised, if it weren't for his darn wife. she wont have it. she wont bealive anything out of the Bible, which is all over here, but we won't be going back there, at least for a long time.
We then met a guy named Diego. Elder Ashby had not met him yet for reasons I will explain later, so, Diego, is a "missionary freind". This is a bad thing, and REALLY bad in this case. Turns out the Missionaries did NOTHING but spend all day at his house. In fact, they had keys to his house, they eat there, they mostly lived there, and he let it happen. So WE are going to show him that that does not happen, not with us. NOW! he WAS learning a LITTLE, so he WAS going to be baptized, then, one day, while feeding the missionaries, (like every other day) his mom, who lives with him like 3 months of the year, worked REALLY hard all day on the dinner, real hispanic food, and ONE of the missionaries, the one that I replaced, wouldn't eat ANY of it. He refused, like a punk, SO she was super offended, so that meant he was too, and they wouldn't let them come back till that Elder was gone. So now that he is, Elder Ashby and I went over and mostly heard horror stories of the old missionaries, and really just how bad they were. So that was fun. He said he was 90% mormon and now he is 0. he is coming around though, he lets us in, but its weird for him that we dont go there EVERY DAY! so yeah.
Day 2
It was a great day, met a lot of good peolple, BUT it was the end of the day that just made it,.Elder Ashby has a weakness, and it is the funniest thing ever, pretty girls! HA! oh, so, we were at the store, there was a girl there with big hair, she said hi and smiled, all nice, ok, yeah yeah, we went on. Then, as we were leaving, so was she, and Elder Ashby said he wished he would have given her a card, so I was like, here's your chance! little did I know. SO he started the convo by telling her how great her hair was, so, rocky start already, tells her a bit about the chruch, and the Mormon.org card, things are looking up. THEN she says, "ya'll should come to our church one day, it's real good" (she is pentacostal) and he replied, "it must be good if you go there" she fakeASpossible giggled and quickly went inside. on our way home, he stopped and asked "did I just flirt with her?" yes Elder, yes you did. He is no longer alowed to talk to pretty girls. I shall take that role on from now on, which really won't be too hard, cause, we ARE in Mississippi... so,
Day 3
kind of lame, all our plans fell through. no one was home. NO ONE! and it rained, like crazy! again! and we were on BIKES! so we hung out under a big tree. after it stopped raining it was so humid that I was SOAKED ANYWAYS! ah, we were on bikes all day, it was tough, but I had NO IDEA! you'll see, SO! the day was no good, till near the end, when we met with the Chip and Meagan family.. dont know there last name.. the spirit was so strong, and you could tell! we went through the lesson, and when I pulled out the BOM! and gave it to chip, he couldn't take his eyes off it and at one point said "I am GOING to read this book" when we were talking about something else altogether, kinda distacting, jerk, BUT, it was good,
Day 4, THE DAY!
ok, SO, we made the choice to go to a little town called tucker, about 8 to 10 miles from us... we biked.. (PS, we have a car, but becasue our area is so HUGE and we have to drive SO far for DDMs and Zone meetins, we have like NO miles, so yeah, its a bike area) so we biked, um, all day, ALL OF IT! ON A BIKE! you know the saying "up hill both ways" I am 100% sure, that that comes STRAIGHT OUT OF MISSISSIPPI! cause, never in my life, have I said to my self, "ok, this sucks, but at least on the way back, you will be down hill all the way" and then on the way back been like "WHAT IN THE %&*# (Missionary swear words) HOW THE *$@#^!? WHY!!!!??" so yeah, up hill, both ways, and all over, we biked probably a total of 30 miles, up hill, the whole time, BUT IT WAS ALL WORTH IT! AND! Elder Ashby is SO aloof on a bike, he just goes, lalala, no worries in the world, up hill, he is a speed demon. But the three times we had 4 feet of down hill, PRETTY sure he had his brakes on the whole time... yeah, so that made it one of the WORST DAYS EVER! BUT! it was all worth it, BIG time, cause it was the best day ever, so many people feeling the spirit, I cant WAIT to make that bike ride again, even though, once or twice I thought "should I just give up on life right now? cause, my body is about to give up on me," or, "ima die". I cant wait to do that again, I LOVE tucker, that place has been SO prepared by the Lord. Elder Ashby and I have been so blessed this week, in particualr, that day, was amazing! one young man named Dalton, while praying (for he said only the 3nd time in HIS LIFE!) paused and said. "I feel... something, I feel light" we lightly told him it was the Spirit, and he said "I like it" and finished the prayer, it, was, SO COOL! SO COOL!!
Sunday,
good meeting, for the most part, we got 5 investigators to church, which is like a record here, and we WILL double that next week. So good stuff, BUT they did sing one of the top 3 songs NEVER to sing with investigator present. um, also just a weird song in general, its called, something deseret, its, weird, and says something about coffee, so, yeah, anyhow!
Thats all I got for now. oh, Elder Ashby fell off his bike, funniest thing ever,
